Application for Reciprocal License

Important facts to know before you apply for Reciprocity

State Reciprocity

  • You must have received a 75% or greater on the exam for the license you wish to reciprocate.
  • You must have held the license you wish to reciprocate in good standing for a period of not less than 1 year.
  • If the issuing state has no record of your exam it will be rejected and number 5 will apply.
  • Refunds will not be made for processed applications. (be sure you qualify before you send the application and fees).

Municipal Reciprocity

  • You must have received a 75% or greater on the exam from the approved Nebraska program you wish to reciprocate.
  • If the issuing municipality has no record of your exam it will be rejected and number 4 will apply.
  • Refunds will not be made for processed applications. (be sure you qualify before you send the application and fees)

Reciprocal Licensing Agreement with Other States

The Nebraska State Electrical Board has a reciprocal licensing agreement for the Journeyman Electrician license with all of the following states. The applicant must have passed a State examination in order for the license to reciprocate to another State.

* The Nebraska State Electrical Division reciprocates with these states for Electrical Contractor Licenses. All other states are for Journeyman licensing ONLY.
